This Week at Go-YGO.com, August 10th

I hope you are enjoying the new design. There are a few important items this week, leading up to Gen Con Indy.

Go-YGO.com’s Yu-Gi-Oh! Buy List

Please click on “Buy List” in the navigation menu up above to access the current Buy List for Yu-Gi-Oh! We are partnering with Comic Odyssey (the legendary California store) to offer the best prices on your merchandise. I was inspired to create the buy list by my experience at the Yu-Gi-Oh! Nationals. Comic Odyssey ran a vendor booth there and I was amazed by the amount of people that told me the great prices Odyssey was offering. Rather than have players continue to be gouged by vendors, I would much prefer to see a community filled with real people trading with each other (and fair prices).

Go-YGO.com is not just buying the big money cards either! All sorts of cards from commons to regular rares are included (a quick glance shows stuff like Archfiend Soldier, Horus LV4 through LV 8, Time Wizard, and other “crap” being bought). Make sure to find it up above, or click the Yu-Gi-Oh! buy list link to take a look.

More on Go-YGO.com’s Coverage Plans

Due to Konami’s up-to-date coverage of the Yu-Gi-Oh World Championship 2009, it was unnecessary for our site to post pictures of the event or standings. However, you can expect to see an interview (or two) with some of the World Championship competitors in the next few days.

This past weekend I had a conversation with Jason Grabher-Meyer, my former managing editor at Metagame.com. Jason currently does coverage at Shonen Jump Championship events for Konami and the goal at Gencon for them is to provide all sorts of exciting new coverage at SJC Indy.

As a result of this, this site will scale back its coverage plans. Our goal is to provide added value to readers, not muddy the waters when the official coverage is spot-on (as it was at Worlds). The deck profiles and other features are put on hold as of now. I will reevaluate this for the next event based on Konami coverage’s performance at Gencon Indy.

For this Shonen Jump, you can expect to see round to round updates of your favorite Yu-Gi-Oh! players on this site. I will also post standings at the end of the event (in real time instead of three hours later on a message board) in the event the official coverage does not do so.

There is also a possible upcoming Team Battle between Team Overdose and Team HungerForce. A HungerForce representative, Josh Graham, has tentatively arranged a team battle with Dale Bellido and Paul Levitin. I will post updates on this; if the event does occur, Go-YGO.com will provide full coverage of course.

This Week at Go-YGO.com

To help people prepare for Gencon Indy, the articles for this week will revolve around Metagame concerns. Expect a number of pieces on Blackwings and Gladiator Beasts before I leave for Gencon on Thursday. We will temporarily run more than one article per day to prepare for the last big event (before the new format).

Also expect to see an interview with at least one of the World Championship competitors (I am working on contacting the South Korean champion as well). This interview will go into perceptions of TCG vs OCG and strategy issues as well.
